Solar Charging Station
Current Status
Current Status:
The Solar Charging Station project was passed down to our team to restore communication between the controller electronics and the physical panel/sensors. Upon doing so, the tracking functionality was restored, and the panel is successfully able to track the sun. The tracking functionality of the solar panel is controlled with an arduino microcontroller, which uses a communication protocol called I2C to interact with sensors on the panel that give positional data, as well as weather data (temperature, humidity, and windspeed). Our solution improved the range of this communication protocol, allowing the arduino to use the positional and weather data to move the orientation of the panel accordingly.
